A #GlobalBIMStandard might be difficult …if it was 1990.

A lot of the BIM revolution is about technology until we remind ourselves that it’s more about processes and people. Then we talk some more about the cool technology 😉.

Forming standards can take years and unfortunately even after the monumental effort to develop a standard, do we always all agree?

Unfortunately current processes to form company or even community standards is time-consuming and can sometimes feel like an “extracurricular” activity for a group of pioneers who already have full time jobs.

These people are the heroes in our industry

These people are the heroes in our industry – those that care so much about pushing our industry forward that they devote their “down time” by taking off their company shirt, getting on a flight, rolling up their sleeves, and making a difference for the AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Owner) community.

I was surprised recently by the significant reaction to this question:

Maybe Global BIM Teams Need Global BIM Standards?

…then we realized/realised (see what I did there? 😆) that yes, it could actually be possible!

We believe that in order to achieve simple, flexible, and Lean BIM standards we require a global BIM Planning platform.

Can you imagine how much waste we could remove with a single user-generated, socially-curated and continually-improving BIM standard?
